Community Responsiveness in Schools
In this session, participants will learn an alternative framework for community engagement named “community responsiveness,” with the goal to first recognize the primacy of “community leadership” and the implications this should have on formal educators and institutions.
Participants will reflect upon their own views and experiences with parent, family, and community engagement frameworks and approaches while utilizing the African-American educational experience in relation to formal education systems as a case for discussion and analysis.
