Full program description
Peer Program: Trauma Resilience
Trauma can significantly influence how students learn, communicate, build relationships, and respond to challenges in school. Rather than viewing trauma solely as a mental health issue, educators play an essential role in recognizing how trauma affects student behavior, engagement, and overall well-being. By understanding the impact of stress and adverse experiences on the brain and nervous system, school staff can create supportive environments that foster resilience, connection, and student success.
This highly interactive training will focus on:
- Understand how trauma impacts student behavior and the nervous system
- Explore trauma-responsive strategies that support student well-being and success
- Build skills to promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive relationships
- Learn self-care practices to prevent compassion fatigue and sustain their work with students
