Peer Program: LGBTQIA+: Allyship in Action
As school communities become increasingly diverse, educators benefit from developing the knowledge and skills needed to effectively support students of all identities and experiences. Building inclusive school cultures extends beyond adults, it also involves equipping students with the skills to foster belonging, demonstrate empathy, and engage respectfully with peers whose identities and experiences may differ from their own. Intentional student leadership and peer engagement can help create school environments where every student feels welcomed, valued, and connected.
This highly interactive training will focus on:
- Preparing educators to develop and facilitate student-centered activities and youth-led programs that promote inclusion and belonging
- Strengthening understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities and experiences, exploring culturally responsive and affirming practices, and building confidence in using inclusive language and addressing bias
- Embodying and teaching students the skills of allyship, cultivating welcoming environments, and engaging school communities
