Full program description
2024-2025 Poetry Out Loud Organizer's Training
Learn how to host your own local Poetry Out Loud competition at your high school or community institution. Get students to recite poetry, perform prose, and explore the rich poetry anthology from Poetry Out Loud. Students will have the opportunity to perform their poems at a local competition, advance to the LA regional competition, and qualify for state or national competitions!
In this session, we will share the Poetry Out Loud Teacher's Guide, how to best run a local Poetry Out Loud event, share how to qualify for the regional Poetry Out Loud competition and provide technical support for your unique setting.
Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email. We will also send you a Zoom link prior to the virtual training.
About Poetry Out Loud:
Every year since 2005, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Poetry Foundation have worked with thousands of schools and organizations nationwide to bring students a unique way to learn and love poetry. Through Poetry Out Loud, students read, memorize, and recite classic and contemporary poems. This event is supported locally by the Los Angeles County Office of Education, the Los Angeles Department of Arts & Culture, and the California Arts Council.
