Universal Design for Learning in Practice (Virtual 3 Part Series)

This three-part virtual learning series builds foundational and applied knowledge of Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Participants will explore the foundational principles of UDL, apply the UDL Design Process to proactively address learner variability, and examine key shifts in the updated UDL Guidelines that emphasize learner agency, equity, and asset-based design. Through reflection, discussion, and practical application, educators will deepen their understanding of how UDL can be used to create inclusive, learner-centered environments that increase access, engagement, belonging, and success for all students.

Learning Objectives

1. Explore the foundational principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), including learner variability, barriers to learning, and learner agency.

2. Apply the UDL Design Process to identify barriers and design learning experiences that support multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression.

3. Examine key shifts in the updated UDL Guidelines and reflect on their implications for equity, learner agency, identity, and inclusive educational practices.
