Universal Design for Learning in Practice
This full-day professional learning session provides participants with an opportunity to explore Universal Design for Learning (UDL) from foundational concepts to practical application. Participants will examine learner variability, explore the UDL Design Process, and deepen their understanding of the key shifts reflected in the latest UDL Guidelines. Through reflection, discussion, and application activities, educators will consider how UDL can be used to proactively design learning environments that increase access, engagement, belonging, and learner agency.
Learning Objectives

Develop an understanding of the foundational principles of Universal Design for Learning (UDL), including learner variability, barriers to learning, and learner agency.

Explore the UDL Design Process and apply it to the development of inclusive learning experiences that proactively reduce barriers and support diverse learners.

Examine the key shifts in the UDL Guidelines and reflect on their implications for instructional design, equity, and inclusive educational practices.
