Student Mental Well-Being Modules

The goal of this course is to familiarize teachers with steps to identify warning signs and the risk factors of self-injurious and suicidal youth, procedures for referral, working with school mental health professionals, and how to implement suicide prevention strategies in the classroom aligned with AB2246/AB1767-Pupil Suicide Prevention Policy (including suicide prevention, intervention, and postvention). Participants will examine current trends and perspectives on youth suicide. Participants will gain insight into how to identify and protect suicidal and self-injurious youth, proceed when at-risk youth have been identified, and work with school site crisis teams in suicide prevention.
