Full program description

26-27 Trades, Thinking & Transformation: The AVID Toolkit for CTE Educators

AVIDizing the CTE Classroom is an engaging professional development learning experience that equips educators to prepare students for high-demand, high-wage careers. This training connects hands-on industry, project-based labs with research-based, high-impact instructional strategies. Rather than viewing technical skills and academic rigor as separate, participants will learn to integrate AVID’s WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading) framework into their curriculum without sacrificing shop or lab time. By merging these areas, participants will transform workshops, kitchens, or computer labs into centers of advanced professional thinking, where students develop critical thinking, advanced literacy, and self-organization as essential skills for success in their trade.
