Migrant Education Program
The Migrant Education Program (MEP) is authorized by Part C of Title 1 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965, as amended (ESEA). The purpose of the MEP is to provide supplementary instructional and support services to migrant students to ensure that they acquire the skills and knowledge needed to achieve academic success.
Migrant students are children and youth ages 3-21 whose parents or guardians are migratory workers who, in the preceding 36 months, made a qualifying move and, after doing so, engaged in temporary or seasonal employment in agricultural, dairy, fishing, or logging activities, and who because of this are impacted by a migratory lifestyle.
