Family and Community Engagement Foundations: Building Authentic Partnerships for Student Success

Strong family-school-community partnerships are essential to successful California Multi-Tiered System of Support (CA MTSS) implementation. Led by Kim Breen, this foundational professional learning experience explores research-based practices for building authentic, equitable partnerships with families that strengthen student outcomes and improve school systems. Grounded in the principles and practices from Family-School Collaboration in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, participants will examine how meaningful family engagement can be intentionally embedded within every tier of support.

Participants will:

Develop a foundational understanding of Family and Community Engagement as an essential component of the CA MTSS Framework.

Explore the principles and research from Family-School Collaboration in Multi-Tiered Systems of Support and their application to educational practice.

Learn strategies for building authentic, collaborative partnerships with families that promote shared responsibility for student success.

Examine how family voice and partnership can be integrated across Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 systems of support.

Identify practical strategies for strengthening family-school collaboration to improve equitable outcomes for all students.

This session is designed for school and district leaders, educators, counselors, family engagement staff, and student support professionals who are committed to creating meaningful partnerships with families and communities as an integral part of sustainable CA MTSS implementation.
